Holding a news conference, Colonel K. Souvatthana, head of the Khmer Liberation Front says his troops number at least 135,000, mainly around Kampot. As the bulk of them lack sufficient arms and ammunitions he calls on the “free world” to aid his movement against the Khmer Rouge.

Recurring announcements on Radio PhnomPenh about “discoveries” of home-made remedies for illnesses indicate that Cambodia continues to battle a variety of diseases. Today it announced a cure for leprosy consisting of four different kinds of tree bark and seeds.

10 Khmer Rouge soldiers surrendered to the Thai border police, handing over 10 rifles, including 6 AK-47s, rocket launchers, grenades, ammunition, two communist books and 2 radios. The soldiers said they were willing to die here rather than go back to Cambodia.

Thai FM PHICHAI tells @FCCThai that “Thailand would not forcibly repatriate any Cambodian refugees”. He also insists in the involvement of @UNHCR in any repatriation efforts. Observers deem this unlikely and say that refugees are under no illusion to the human rights situation.

Just over a week after agreeing on border demarcation, 100 Khmer Rouge soldiers clash with Thai border police at Ban Laem. Several KR are killed in the five hour long gun battle; two Thai policemen were wounded.
