    Visiting a pharmaceutical factory Que saw there was no machinery; mixing was done by hand. The workers were mostly illiterate, 12-to-14 years old. The factory director, a 17 year old woman needed no engineers or technicians: “the people can master the plant.” At a PhnomPenh textile factory Que who headed the Vietnamese Woman Delegation was told how the former workers had all been sent for “reeducation.” The factory was now operated mostly by newly recruited peasants.     8. January’s issue of Khmer Rouge magazine “Revolutionary Flag” states that 15-20 million people are needed “to meet the needs of our land. For our population to increase, the livelihood of the people must rise. A 1977 KR schoolbook states Cambodia’s population as 7.7 million. 7.
