An East German defence report says “Vietnam’s army is capable of taking Phnom Penh & solving the Cambodia problem militarily.” It has refrained from doing so, out of political considerations & because China’s response has hitherto been impossible to fully gauge.”

@Reuters reports that for the first time since the Khmer Rouge came to power, Soviet newspapers have publicised charges that KR forces were responsible for atrocities and mass killings. The Soviet Union supports Vietnam in the🇰🇭-🇻🇳conflict.
