Ending his visit to Burma, Khmer Rouge FM IENG Sary says that Cambodia has no intention to ever join any regional alliance, or association but would instead promote bilateral relations with neighbours. Cambodia is to be independent, neutral and non-aligned.

The Khmer Rouge decline a request of the US for a delegation to pay an official visit to Cambodia or meet a Khmer Rouge representative “at any place in Southeast Asia.”
