8. January’s issue of Khmer Rouge magazine “Revolutionary Flag” states that 15-20 million people are needed “to meet the needs of our land. For our population to increase, the livelihood of the people must rise.

A 1977 KR schoolbook states Cambodia’s population as 7.7 million.


7. Khmer Rouge Foreign Minister IENG Sary summarises the achievements of 1976 in an diary entry and included having found many cases of “CIA pests” and that “Our enemies are now decrepit and possibly dying”

6. At the 9th anniversary of the Revolutionary Army of Kampuchea, Acting Prime Minister NUON Chea[falsely] states that “each Cambodian has 312 kilograms of rice to eat per year.”
PhnomPenh radio also reports a surplus of 150,000 tons of rice for export.

4. In a report titled “Life in Cambodia”, @USEmbassyBKK says that Cambodian refugees claim that under the Khmer Rouge “An error if discovered, means death”
5. The Netherlands establish diplomatic relations with Cambodia
